I would just like to know what happens if you miss a lot of school days. I missed ten days of school in less than three weeks because I was very sick. My parents got a letter in the mail about it, and I just want to know what’s going to happen. I don’t want shen thinking I was skipping school, because i was out for a serious reason, I was very sick with the stomach bug. If you could just answer this question that would be great!!

A.  In accordance with district policy if it is an excused absence, such as being sick, then a note should be submitted to your school and they would mark the absence as excused.

I think something that needs to be discussed about the portal is the fact that at the end of the quarter it doesn’t permit you to check your grades for a week or more. Students already have enough anxiety from school, and this only adds to it because they just sit wondering. These kids already go to a school where the pressure and stress of success is hard enough, I think this needs to be changed. Maybe even a day or two, but a week or more is too long. Please do not just respond, “thanks for the feedback,” let me know what can be done about my concern please.

In 9th grade, is there a class for honors Spanish – or is Spanish 2A considered an honors class?

A.  We do not have honors-level classes in World Languages. Spanish 2A is the next appropriate progression for students who have scored an 80 or better on the Checkpoint A exam. Spanish 2 is for students who would benefit from a slower-paced curriculum.
