Would it be possible to notify the Shenendehowa staff and community why campus flags are lowered to half staff? Thank you.
A. We lower flags based on notification from the Governor of New York.
Why is it that the 9th grade PE teachers have chromebooks? Why aren’t they instead given to teachers? I know that teachers have to apply for them and they’re not just given to them, but this doesn’t make sense to me.
A. PE teachers are teachers within Shenendehowa. These teachers use the Chromebooks for assessments, recording student data such as heart rates, and to watch instructional videos demonstrating key concepts. All high school teachers are encouraged to apply for Chromebooks to support student learning.
Is DDE considered a college level course and is the average weighted as such?
A. Yes, College DDE is a college level course and is weighted as such.
When do students get a parking pass?
A. Over the summer or the beginning of the new school year.
What is the difference between Underclassmen Awards Night and Freshman Recognition? What awards are there for Freshmen?
A. Underclassmen are for grade 10 and 11. Awards are given at both for effort and achievement.
Why can’t we have chats an send emails to freinds on our chomebooks? I know that it is schools property, but some kids need to socialize more that can’t or are not allowed to use phones. Thank you
A. Because that is not the intended purpose of the Chromebooks. The purpose is to enhance your education.
Can a teacher issue lunch detention if a student doesn’t turn in a homework assignment? Can a teache issue a lunch detention if a question out of many isn’t done or complete? Can a teacher withhold acess to a graded homework assignment because a student didn’t finish xsomething in class?
A. Teachers work to support students with their learning. This means providing students with opportunities for learning and sometimes means holding students responsible to complete work designed to support their learning. What grade is evolution in science class taught in Shen?
A. It is part of New York State Science Standards and is taught in life science courses (Science 7 & Biology). There is some minor crossover in Earth Science when they cover the age of the earth & scientific evidence used to make that determination.
