A.  Orders for yearbooks are accepted until January 30. They cost $60 at this time. If ordered by January 30 seniors will be able to have their name printed on the cover. There will be extra books in the spring; those will cost $70. Please email the club advisor at somogwen@shenet.org with questions.

We’d like to suggest that parents be notified when one of their teachers steps down. We heard about it from our child, but it would certainly be a courtesy if administrators just sent parents a quick email informing them of a change a giving a general assurance of the hiring timeline. The time leading up to the switchover was very disruptive as is the substitute teacher situation (LOTE program). Also, it would be good for a department administrator or the principal to step in and acknowledge the process with the kids. Thanks!

Last year the school said they were going to improve the amount of time students spend on homework. However, homework has only increased this year, I see no improvement. The Algebra II H math department assigns an unreasonable amount of work as if we don’t have other things to do. The homework takes at least an hour and no one has time for that. It causes a lot of stress for the students, there have been no improvements from last year at all.

A.  Some courses require more time than others and the rate at which students complete homework varies.  If you are routinely spending an hour or more on homework in one class, feel free to set up time to discuss this with your teacher.  Your parent may also want to reach out to the teacher directly.
