Regulations for BOE Policy 7426
SUBJECT: STUDENT ACTIVITY CODE OF CONDUCT
The Student Activity
Code of Conduct governs students participating in extra-curricular
activities, recognizing the goal of providing students with opportunities to
experience a wide range of positive and constructive opportunities.
Attendance: Students are expected to attend school everyday and may not
participate in an event/activity/if absent on the day of such
event/activity. Permission will be needed from the
principal/designee/advisor to participate on a day that he/she arrived after
8:40 a.m. or left for the day before 2:40 p.m. and more than 2 class periods
were missed. In addition students are expected to be in school the day
following an event/activity except for reasons allowed under “excused”
absences.
Student Suspension: A student who is suspended from
school on the day of an activity shall not be allowed to attend such events.
Student Participation Based on Election, Audition, or Competitive
Selection: This segment of the policy shall apply to only those students
participating in organizations, student government, or other activities for
which the following criteria are met: • Student participation is based on
election, audition or competitive selection. • Said group represents the
school or District in performances, productions, or competition. •
Membership/participation is voluntary and not a requirement of a course.
• Students must attain a grade point average of at least 65. • Students
must maintain below a five “5” in effort and conduct in all courses and
electives. • Students must present their report card to their advisor
soon after the distribution of report cards.
Should a student’s grade
point average drop below 65, he/she will be placed on suspension from the
activity/organization for a period of two weeks. During that time a plan
will be developed with his/her teacher, club or activity advisor (and other
staff when needed) and implemented to achieve improvement to a 65 or greater
grade point average or to make sufficient progress through assignments,
attendance, effort and conduct to satisfy such a plan.
This
information shall be made available to building principals to ensure that
teachers/advisors and students participating in activities are aware of the
policy and these regulations.
