Karigon Elementary School building

Karigon is one of four K-5 elementary schools located on the main campus. It is connected to Orenda Elementary School sharing a cafeteria/auditorium. It opened in 1968.

Congratulations to Karigon teacher, Mr. Bryan Sawyer, for winning Teacher of the Year on Live! With Kelly!

The award was announced this morning live on the show. Bryan was one of five finalists nationwide. Bryan’s prize includes a trophy, laptops for his classroom and a $25,000 donation to the district.Bryan Sawyer named Teacher of the Year on Live! With Kelly!
Mr. Sawyer’s commitment to his students and their success is unwavering. He is a champion for learning and excellence. We are proud of the work he does at Karigon Elementary & Shenendehowa Central Schools.

The Buddy Program is an afterschool program for students of all abilities run by Mr. Sawyer and Ms. Kunz. This program occurs every other Wednesday for the entire school year. The children participate in a variety of activities including arts & crafts, cooking, and games. The goal of the Buddy Program is to provide the opportunity for all students to work and play as a member of a group while learning to be compassionate and caring individuals.

As part of Shenendehowa’s “Turn It Off” Respect the Earth Campaign, Mrs. Morrissey’s 3rd grade students will read their persuasive letters about saving energy to students in grades 1-3 on Friday, March 16th at Karigon Elementary School’s Morning Program in the Cafeteria.
