Karigon would like to congratulate the artist chosen for the Empire State Plaza Art Show. Work from all over the capital region is on display for the month of March at the Albany Concourse. Please enjoy the works of our students along with many famous modern painters and sculptors that are a part of the state collection. 
We are excited to announce that the "Caught You Reading!" contest was a success! For two weeks, we have been passing out "reading tickets" to students caught reading at school. This has been a fun and exciting program at Karigon.

New Rock-climbing Wall at
Karigon students, Principal Wing and Coach Decker enjoy the new rock-climbing wall.
Funding for this gymnastics equipment will benefit all Karigon students K-5 and was provided by the fifth grade class of 2014 (Legacy Gift) and the Shenendehowa Educational Foundation.
A huge thank you to Coach Decker for writing the grant proposal and last year’s fifth grade students for raising funds at their “5th Grade’s Got Talent” event!
Karigon 1st Graders present their animal reports. Students researched an animal of their choice, made a PowerPoint and presented it to the class. The students worked with Mrs. Bennett in the Media Center on this project as enrichment.

Karigon Third Grade Giving Tree -- Third graders collected hats, gloves and mittens to donate to CAPTAIN.
Karigon 5th Graders learned about Wayne Theibaud and his famous dessert paintings. Students were given the challenge of creating a container with clay. Using the clay building techniques and rules to join clay, each student was successfully able to create a unique and delicious ‘baked good’ sculpture.

The Gardening Committee completed its final fall clean-up recently with the help of some High School East students. They filled 45 leaf bags in total! Thank you to all the committee members and great volunteers who have made Karigon’s first impression beautiful!
Karigon-Bring your Parents to School Day
Once again this year, Karigon celebrated “Bring your Parents to School Day”. Parents were invited to accompany their child in their classroom, during a regular school day. This year 343 parents signed into visit! Thank you all for attending. [ ]
