Karigon Elementary School Supply Lists |
|
Beginning September 2008,
Shenendehowa has prepared a district-wide supply list for elementary
schools that includes district-supplied items and parent-supplied
items. This is an effort to regulate
the amount of supplies that parents have to purchase at the
beginning of the year. Substitutions or eliminations are permitted
by grade level in each school.
Listed below is the parent-supply list for the 2008-09 school year. Brand quality is
important. Examples of the brands requested are listed below. Crayola
Crayons—not Rose Art Ticonderoga
Pencils (the sharpeners seem to “eat” the less expensive brands)
Ziploc bags
(they are sturdier than other bags). This is
supplies from the master list that are needed by Karigon. Teachers should
or will not ask families for any additional items, but may remove
some items from the general family supply list. Teachers feel
that it is a motivating (and parent/child bonding) experience to
allow students to pick out their own items in a store. Teachers would
also like to be able to set-up a school supply giving tree during
parent conferences or at Open House. They will provide a list of
items they need for the classroom and parents would have the option
of supplying these additional items. Participation is strictly
voluntary. Backpack or
