Shenendehowa High School is comprised of two buildings: East and West. Both are located on the main campus of Shenendehowa. Students in grades 10-12 attend the East Building and students in grade 9 attend the West Building.

This morning at approximately 9:10 am the high school administration, in cooperation with the NYS Police, the Schenectady and Warren County Sheriff's Departments and the NYS Dept. of Corrections, conducted a safety drill. Recently the “World of Difference” club from the High School visited the 6th grade FACS classes for a service learning project. This high school club organized an educational presentation and activity for middle school students regarding the issues of prejudices and stereotypes.

Two Shen High School students have been accepted to represent the Capital District Delegation for the 2013 Puerto Rican/Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute, Diego Hernandez and Nina Loy will be debating in a mock assembly session at the NYS Chamber at the State Capitol. This event takes place on March 23-25.

Shen High School had two teams compete in the 2013 Science Bowl Regionals sponsored by The U.S. Department of Energy and General Electric.  The team of Joshua Elacqua, Liangyu Tao, Harry Newman-Plotnick and Stefan Grzyboski placed 2nd out of 17 teams! Shen teacher Mike Tymeson is the team advisor.

In addition, Dan Lemire was a finalist in individual History Bee competition and has advanced to the National Championships. Our Shen teams are coached by Shen teacher Amber Quinn.

Beauty and the BeastThe Shen High School Musical Company presents Disney’s Beauty and The Beast on March 7th and 8th at 7:00pm and March 9th at 2:00pm and 7:00pm in the High School East Auditorium. Respect Club held their 2nd Annual Gaming for Charity event. $450 was raised for the Chris Stewart and Deanna Rivers Memorial Scholarship Fund. Respect Club decided to match the funds, making the total $900 to be donated.

The High School Robotics Team, the Rocketeers, recently participated in a VEX Robotics Competition called “Savage Soccer”at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. The team received the “Awesome Autonomous Award” for their ability to program the robot to quickly gather and deliver blocks automatically, without driver control. [MOREMore Photos]

Last night, a devastating car accident took the lives of two beloved Shenendehowa High School students, seniors Christopher Stewart and Deanna Rivers and seriously injured junior Matthew Hardy and a Shaker student.

 We will continue to monitor student reaction in the coming weeks and help students who may need more time to adjust to this tragedy.

Shenendehowa High School held a commemorative service event for retired teacher, administrator and U.S. Air Force veteran Howard Steggs, who died in March of this year. After the event journalism students interviewed local veterans about their experiences in the military and in various conflicts. The taped interviews will be donated to the New York State Military Museum and Veterans Research Center in Saratoga as part of the New York State Oral History Program.
