The Shenendehowa Math Team hosted a fast pace math tournament Tuesday, January 20th in which students and faculty competed in. In the final round, Mrs. Rathay from High School West won best 2 out of 3 against Ayse Guvenilir who was the top place finisher for the students. Thanks to our hosts Philip Sun and Jerry Qu and to all the students and faculty that made it an exciting event. We look forward to having another one soon! 
Congressman Tonko has been invited to speak with 12th grade National Issues Forum and Syracuse Public-Affairs classes about current events, his career path, and future careers in the Capital region. 
Shenendehowa’s Mostly A Cappella has been invited to give a solo performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City on March 30th!
Shenendehowa High School East’s Mostly A Cappella and Chamber Choir present a Benefit performance of Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado on Saturday January 17 at 8:00pm in the High School East Auditorium. Tickets are $10.00 for Adults and $5.00 for Students and can be purchased at the door.

$10,000 dollars from the GLOBALFOUNDRIES Town of Malta
HSW French classes wrote and illustrated children's storybooks about world travel. They read and translated these stories to 3rd and 5th grade students at Skano, Orenda and Tesago. 
Mrs. Stammel's HSW English class formats their thesis-based, research paper about social issues using MLA style.
High School senior Jahn Ligon tells the story about how taking health at Shen helped him to save his brother's life. "I was walking out of my room when I noticed my brother grabbing his throat and falling to the ground. I was shocked at first but picked him up without any hesitation and began the Heimlich maneuver until the object was dislodged from his throat. 
In December, Shen High School dedicted the cancer awareness tree located in the memorial garden.
In December, singer/songwriter and 2008 Shen alumni Danielle Bouchard from the famous band Oh, Honey conducted a master class with a Q/A session for students interested in her music, or just finding out what it would be like to be a recording artist.
Congratulations to Shen health teacher Nicole Holehan who was awarded the 2014 NYS Health Teacher of the Year!
High School teacher Laura Tarlo was awarded the Gold Star Teacher and Blue Star School awards from W!SE (Working in Support of Education) and All State. These are both financial literacy awards.
On Monday, December 8, 2014, the H.S. East Music Department will be hosting singer/songwriter and 2008 Shen alumni Danielle Bouchard from the famous band Oh, Honey. She will be here periods 6-9 for a masterclass and a Q/A session for students interested in her music, or just finding out what it would be like to be a recording artist.

Twenty nine talented Shen HS music students participated in the Area All-State Music Festival at Saratoga HS on November 21 and 22 culminating in a wonderful concert enjoyed by family, friends and the community.
Shen HS Drama Club presented a fantastic production of Noises Off to standing ovations, Nov 13-15!
Students in the National Issues Forum classes organized and ran a Book Drive to collect children’s books for the Ben Osborn Fund, a memorial fund founded in memory of CPL Ben Osborn who was killed in Afghanistan, June 15, 2010, while serving in the United States Army during Operation Enduring Freedom. The group presented more than 500 books to the Ben Osborn Fund during the high school Veterans’ Day Assembly on November 7, 2014. 
The NYS Police Forensic Investigation Center presented to Shen AP Biology and Forensic Science classes. Julie Pizziketti, Acting Director of Biological Science, spoke to students about forensic DNA technology. 
NOISES OFF by Michael Frayn will be presented by the Shenendehowa High School Drama Club on Thursday and Friday, November 13th and 14th at 7pm & Saturday, November 15 at 2pm and 7pm in the High School West Auditorium. High School West geometry students use Chromebooks and a geometry app to explore relationships in triangles, take data, and record their results.

Students in Mrs. Lombardi’s and Mrs. Sauer’s Spanish classes at High School West had the opportunity to Skype with Nikki Rowley, a Peace Corps volunteer/teacher living in Ecuador.

Shen varsity field hockey players coach future stars. The varsity girls' team helps run the program by running practices and helping coach at the tournaments. The students also receive service hours toward National Honor Society. 
The Shenendehowa SFA Senate is excited to announce the Homecoming Dance in HSE on Saturday, October 18, 2014 from 7:00pm - 10:00pm. Tickets are FREE and available during all lunch periods in HSE and HSW from October 14th through October 17th. The dance is open to all high school students with a limited number of tickets available. This year's theme is Shen Spirit. The dance is semi-formal. Members from Shen's National Art Honor Society (Maia Loy, Margaux Hales, Carly Jacob, Emma Fishbein, and Rhea Mundra) painted approximately 50 faces of aspiring zombies at Leah’s Cakery in Round Lake. The annual Zombie Walk is a fundraiser for the local food pantries. Zombies of all ages set about the village and collect bags of food from all the porches. Congratulations to Shen H.S. students Taylor Abbitt and Jacob O'Shea on their selection to the NAFME All-National Music Festival. Jacob and Taylor were selected for the Chorus and orchestra (respectively) out of thousands of students across the United States. This is one of the highest honors ensembles a student can reach.
