Environmental
Science is a course designed to introduce students to the various aspects of our
environment and into the interdependence of life on earth.
Topics of study include ecology and populations, mineral resources and
energy, waste management and human health. It
consists of student-centered lab activities, in addition to interactive and
web-based research and analysis. Students
will relate assigned readings to meaningful class discussion.
Classes meet seven periods per week.
A school exam is administered in June.
This new course is designed for any students interested in learning what is happening to their planetary support system. As we move into this new century various factors seem to be joining together in a dynamic interplay which will have profound effects on the future; some positive, others negative. Since students will be inheriting this world they should be made aware of the perils and promises soon to face them. This course was created to meet this obligation of our generation to the future!
