READING

By: Carli, Sarah, and Matt

We are going to read very good stories. Our class already read two stories in Unit 2. We are going to read Nights of the Pufflings, The Garden of Happiness and How to Babysit an Orangutan. Everyone in Mrs. Fischer’s class hopes those are good stories.

We all have reading journals. Mrs. Fischer writes us letters. She asks us a question about what we read. In the first paragraph we answer the question and write what page and chapter we're on. In the second paragraph we write what happened in what we read so far. In the third paragraph we write any of our questions or comments. In December we are doing literature circles.

Spelling and Grammar

By: Lauren, Victoria, and Rachel

On Monday we always take a pretest. If you get every word right on the pretest you only have to do the challenge words on the real test. If you don’t get every word right on the pretest you have to do all of the spelling words AND the challenge words. The spelling words fall in a pattern. =)

Here are some topics we are doing in grammar. We do kinds of sentences, subjects and predicates. We also do clauses, nouns, and pronouns.

Writing

By Mitchell, Colin, and Charlie

For the next month or two, our class will be working on memoir. A memoir is a memory with feeling or emotions. A memoir has strong characters (not physically). A memoir is also a memory that happened in the past. Memoirs have look backs or look forwards. Some memoirs show emotions or feelings. When we are done with the writing process of a memoir, we will then put it into a storybook.
