

Gowana is one of three middle schools located on the main campus. It opened in 1953. The three middle schools buildings are attached and share core areas such as gym, libraries, etc., however, they function as separate schools.
Gowana Team 6-1 student, Madison Gibbs, is the Writer of the Month for April.

Students from Gowana, Acadia and Arongen won the Americanism Essay Contest sponsored by the Clifton Park Elks Club. This year's topic was "Why I am pround to pledge the allegiance to our flag. Essays from Marcos Melendez, Matthew Timpanaro and Meg Ritter were selected as the top three out of 38 essays that were received. Their essays were forwarded to the District Americanism Chairman and will be judged against essays from other lodges, the state and ultimately the nation.
Patrick Rein of Clyde Peelings REPTILAND and "Big Momma" a Boa Constrictor recently visited Gowana Middle School. Gowana PTA sponsored this excellent assembly.

In February, the middle school Mathcounts Club participated in the annual Regional Mathcounts Competition at the GE Research Center in Niskayuna. Jerry Qu of Acadia placed 6th overall making it to the state competition in March! [MORE]
