The three Shenendehowa Middle schools will be
having our "The Colors of Kindness" week beginning on Monday
December 5th- 9th.
During this week we are encouraging our teachers to discuss or
incorporate the theme of kindness into their classes with a
different focus and color theme for each day.
"Colors of Kindness": As part of our week's activities we are
asking students and staff to wear certain colors each day of the
week to help us focus on that day's theme. In addition we will be
having a daily announcement over the PA system to help promote a
culture of kindness in our school.
Monday: WEAR YELLOW to represent the "Golden Rule". Treat others
the way you would like to be treated.
Tuesday: WEAR BLUE to show that you are "true blue". You are a
honest and trustworthy person.
Wednesday: Red can represent emotions from love to anger. Today,
WEAR RED to represent your range of emotions. It's how you respond
to your emotions that counts.
Thursday: WEAR WHITE to show that you support peace.
Friday: WEAR GREEN to show your Shen pride. We are one community!
This is our first attempt to bring about a "Kindness Revolution"
in our middle schools. As we move forward, we will have to compete
with a lot of negativity in our world that we have no control
over. We don't always have the time to address kindness in our
instruction, but empathy can be taught. It can be modeled by the
way we address it with our students and by the way you address
situations with your children. So please help us promote the
"Kindness Revolution" this coming week and every day!
