September 2010
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Hello! I would like to introduce myself as your son/daughter(s) math teacher. I am Mr. Morcone, fifth grade teacher at Shatekon Elementary. This is my eighth year teaching and I am excited to be working with your child in math class. I have posted a message on the Shatekon website that gives a brief synopsis about myself. We have an exciting and extremely detailed Mathematics books. This is a wonderful series that students will love to explore.
In math this year, we will be engaging in the following topics: place value, decimals, fractions, division, factors, and multi-step word problems among other qualitative skills. Students will be challenged on a daily basis with various methods of whole group and small group instruction. Here is a description of how the class is conducted.
Assessments include: quizzes, homework, and in class grades, chapter tests, formal/informal observations, and pre/post assessments. If there are any questions please contact me either through the student planner or directly at school (ext. 48357). Thank you for your time and cooperation.
Together we will make a difference!
Respectfully,
Mr. Morcone
