Shenendehowa students begin
singing in 1st grade general music class. When they get to
4th grade, they have the option of joining the 4th and 5th grade
chorus.
Students continue in chorus in the middle
school. The program consists of grade 6, grade 7 and grade 8
choirs. These choirs rehearse every other day during the school
day. In addition, students may have the opportunity to audition
for select choirs including Treble Choir and Ambassadors.
Students who successfully complete grade 8
choir are recommended for continuation in grade 9 Concert Choir
at HS West. This ensemble rehearses daily during the school day,
and students receive 1 credit. In addition, students may have
the opportunity to audition for Choraliers. Students accepted
into Choraliers will rehearse every other day during the school
day, and receive .5 credit.
Students who successfully complete grade 9
Concert Choir are recommended for continuation in grades 10-12
at HS East. The Concert Choir is for students in grades 10-12
and rehearses daily during the school day for 1 credit. Other
select ensembles include Choraliers and Mostly Acapella. These
ensembles rehearse every other day during the school day.
Students must audition for these select ensembles, and if
selected, will receive .5 credit.
All High School choirs perform evening
concerts throughout the year, as well as frequently participate
in extra community performances outside the school day.
