Acadia Middle School

  • The Acadia Science Bowl team (Jaeho Lee, Andrew Tao, Arnav Singh, Forrest Gao and Emily Yin) won the New York Capital District Regional Competition and was one of 48 middle school teams from across the country invited to compete in the National tournament in Washington, DC.   The NSB is funded by the Department of Energy and has been running for 27 years.  Students invited to the National tournament receive an all-expenses-paid trip to our nation’s capital for five days of competition and learning. One of the days, students competed in a computer-based capture-the-flag event and listened to a plenary talk by two representatives of the Advanced Scientific Computing Research Department about cyber counter-terrorism efforts and hacking.  Students are provided with the opportunity to explore the Smithsonian museums, compete in other challenges, meet competitors and make connections from across the country, and interact with representatives of many of the National Labs and representatives in Congress.
