Highlights of the 2010-2011 Band Program

·               2 High School students, Brendon Wilkins and Robert Krupanich, participated in the NYSSMA Conference All-State music festival.  One student was selected as an alternate, Tony Garza.

·         2 High School students were selected to travel to Europe as part of the 2011 American Music Abroad Empire Tour.  They were Jennifer Lachell and Lindsay DeVito.

·         9 senior band students have elected to pursue a music degree in college.

·         14 High School band students were selected to participate in the Area All-State music festival.

·         35 band students were selected to participate in the Saratoga/Warren All-County Music Festival.

·          12 band students were selected to participate in the Suburban Council Music Festival

·         Over 200 Band students will participate in the 2011 NYSSMA solo Festival

·         Our three sixth grade bands will participate in the 2011 NYSSMA Majors Festival at Burnt Hills High School in April.

·         Shenendehowa will host our 6^th annual Shenendehowa Jazz Festival and Invitational with guest artist Mark Vinci.

·         Select Band students dedicated many hours to the pit orchestra for the 2011 production of ‘Babes in Arms’

·         Middle School Band students participated in the pit orchestra for the Middle School musical production of “High School Musical.”

·         The High School Wind Ensemble worked with Schenectady County Community College Wind Ensemble Conductor and woodwind professor, Mr. Brett Wery.

·         In addition to a rigorous concert schedule, the Shenendehowa Band Program participated in many other district and community events including Respect Day, Shensational, Accent on Acadia, Spotlight on Gowana, Koda Café, NYSSMA Music in our School’s month at the NYS Capitol, Assembly for K-6 students at Arongen Elementary, Middle School Holiday performance at Clifton Park Center, the annual Thanksgiving Friendship Dinner, and more!
