Our curriculum is based on the New York State Standards and the District's Essential Contents and Competencies.
Math is divided into several components, including, but not limited to: Whole Numbers, Place Value, Decimals, Metric Units, Multiplication, Division, Graphs, Statistics, Fractions, Ratios, Proportion, Percent, Integers, Formulas, Probability, and a brief introduction to Algebra.
We will be utilizing "The McGraw-Hill" series in conjunction with outside resources. Problem solving will be a major focus throughout the year as it is also a study skill integrated throughout the core classes.
Evaluation: Homework is an important piece in regards to your students' grades; however, it may or may not be assigned daily. Quizzes and tests will be announced with appropriate amount of study time provided. Towards the end of the year, there will be performance task projects.
*Grading will be based on a point system. It is quite easy to keep track of your grade in math class on your own. Each homework assignment, project, test, quiz and notebook check is assigned a certain point value. At the end of each quarter, your average will be computed by dividing the number of points you have earned by the total number of points you could have possibly earned.
**The math program within the MN classroom follows that of the 6th grade curriculum; however, I work hard on individualizing the program so that it meets the needs of each student to help them progress.
