Attention Shen Alumni: The
Shenendehowa Educational Foundation was established a couple
of years ago to address the needs of the school district
that could not be met within the limits of the traditional
annual school budget or that might exceed what is allowed by
the bureaucracy at the State Education Department. The goal
is to serve and enhance the educational mission of the
school district which includes support of the Plainsmen’s
athletic teams. At the same time, it also encourages and
supports activities on the academic side of the house,
whether it be endeavors in math, science, music or art.
Essentially it strives to do the kinds of things that
enriches the lives of students, school and community.
The foundation has decided as an initial project to
reconstruct the Shenendehowa Carillon in the form of a bell
tower to be built opposite the main entrance to the High
School. The old carillon bells are currently being
refurbished and the bell tower is being constructed in
Cincinnati, Ohio, with delivery scheduled for May of this
year. The goal is not only to preserve this important part
of the community’s heritage, but to also make a statement
about the mission of the Foundation. Any assistance that
alumni could provide would be most appreciated. Any
questions or offers to help can be directed to Kevin Dailey,
class or 1967 at
kdailey@nycap.rr.com. |

The
Shen '79 class is planning for our 30th class reunion.
It's time to register and pay
for the reunion events you plan on attending. Please click
on this link to get to the Shen '79 website http://shenclass79.webs.com/apps/webstore/ then select
the events you'd like to attend, specify the number of
people attending for each event, and then checkout and
provide your credit card information. There are instructions
on the right side of that page for those that would prefer
to send a check.
Our class only had funds for a small deposit for the
Saturday event, and the remaining significant balance is due
to the Desmond by
May 3rd.
PLEASE PURCHASE YOUR
TICKETS BEFORE MAY 3rd.
The weekend events begins Friday,
July 10th with an informal gathering at
Ravenswood in Clifton Park for anyone that would like to
attend. People will be gathering after 7:00pm.
The MAIN EVENT will be held on
Saturday, July 11th
at the
Desmond

July 12th at the picnic event at Lanthier's
Grove in Latham, a full service picnic venue, from 12:00pm
to 3:30pm. $25 per adult and $17 per child under 12.
We're also looking for a way for the Shen Class of
1979 to leave a permanent mark and are seeking donations
from classmates. Your gift, no matter how large or small, is
important. A survey will be coming out so all Shen '79
classmates can vote on where they'd like to leave their
mark. Here are just a few of the ideas:
-
Establish scholarship each year until our 40th reunion
-
Donation to Carillon Bell Tower
-
Donation to Math, Science, English, History, Library,
and/or Special Ed to purchase state of the art equipment
and software
