Harcourt Math 2002

In fourth grade students will study number sense, place value, ordering numbers, math operations, graphing, telling time, elapsed time, multiplication, geometry, area and perimeter, symmetry, measurement (English and metric), probability, and predicting outcomes.  A major emphasis is placed on learning math facts (especially multiplication to 10 x 10), so we encourage students to practice using flashcards or the Harcourt website.  Students will also be developing critical
thinking and problem solving skills.

Later in the year, more advanced topics are introduced including division, fractions, and decimals.

In March the students will take the New York State Fourth Grade Math Assessment.  This will test the skills they have developed throughout their school careers.
