USA won the war. A major battle was Saratoga. It looked like we were going to lose.  Read more of what I learned below.
Did you know that   POW means prisoner of war? They were held in a large  prison but sometimes the US would fire shrapnel at the British.
George Washington was a famous leader in the US army.  The US didn't have a navy. The US thought of an offense but the US would have to split in two and take two forts. Some of them didn't have shoes.  80 percent of our army was militia. The others were somewhat trained. A trained soldier could use a bayonet. The British soldiers were scared. The French helped us to surround the British.
