Holiday Traditions

As part of our Social Studies unit about Holiday Traditions, we learned about a special day in Sweden.  December 13 is St Lucia Day.  On this day, the oldest daughter in the family wears a white robe and a head wreath with candles.  All dressed up, she serves her family buns and coffee in bed.  We celebrated in our own way in our classroom.

A few girls tried on the outfit and we enjoyed acting out the Swedish tradition of serving sweet buns.

Some of us hadn't eaten cinnamon buns before,
but we tried them and liked them!
