Classroom Activities
Students in the management needs program will be involved in various classroom activities each day. Aside from Language Arts and Mathematics instruction, students will complete what is known as their "BIG 5". 1. Math Journal- Students will complete a math journal each morning which is aligned with state standards and helps to prepare for the NYS math test. 2. Spelling- Students will complete one page each day in their spelling books. 3. Punctuation & Capitalization - Students will have their own capitalization and punctuation notebooks. They will complete activities each day to help build grammar skills. 4. Small Book- Small book consists of a book which contains short stories and questions about the story to foster comprehension skills. 5. Writing Journal- Each student will have their own writing journal. This is a favorite activity because students use this book as part of the Writers Workshop lessons. They also use this book for many free-write activities and writing prompts given on certain days. * Please note that only students who receive instruction in Language Arts and Mathematics will be required to complete the "BIG 5"
