Mrs. Frazier’s Newsletter

February 6, 2012

Last week in kindergarten we worked on our February self portraits, February calendars, rhyming, letter review and high frequency word review. We wrote about ways that people can show that they love you. We learned about Groundhog’s Day, and started to work on things for Valentine’s Day. Books we read last week included Flip and Flop, Pip and Squeak, Kiss Me I’m Perfect, The Substitute Groundhog, and Arthur’s Valentine.

This week we will continue to prepare for Valentine’s Day, our 100th day of school and dental week. We will work more on rhymes, numbers and addition skills using words such as "how many more… how many less… how many in all". In math we also continue to work on rote counting the numbers to 100, counting by 10s, and writing the numbers fluently to 20.

Report cards came home today. Please remember to sign the comment sheet and send it back to me in the envelope provided. You get to keep the report card, please do not send that back in to me. J

Information regarding Valentine’s Day went home today as well. Please make sure that if you include candy with your valentines that it is PEANUT FREE!! Our mailing days for valentines are: February 9th, 10th or 13th. Do not send valentines in on the day of our party, February 14th, as there will not be time to "mail" them.

Another important letter went home today about the substitute teacher who will be replacing me for my maternity leave, Miss Baker. If you did not receive the letter, please email me and I will send home another copy to you. The children are very excited to have Miss Baker in the room, and I know that this will be a smooth transition for all involved.

Have a great week!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Frazier
