The Last Great Race on Earth

The Iditarod is the well-known dogsled race across Alaska. The race was started in 1973 to recognize the brave acts of the dogsled teams during the diphtheria epidemic of 1925. Today dogsled teams from around the country, and even the world compete in this test of endurance and determination. For many mushers the act of finishing not winning is the main goal.
Each student has selected a musher to keep track of during the race. We will also be doing various reading and writing activities connected to this event. Below are several links that can be used to learn more about the Iditarod.
