Welcome
to
Paddington Station

PADDINGTON arrived in England from Darkest Peru after stowing away in a ship's lifeboat.  He had been sent out into the world by his Aunt Lucy, who had gone to live in the Home for Retired Bears in Lima.

When Mr. and Mrs. Brown found him he was sitting on an old leather suitcase outside the Paddington Station Lost Property Office.  He had a label round his neck which said, quite simply:  PLEASE LOOK AFTER THIS BEAR.  THANK YOU.

Unable to resist such a simple request, they took him home with them to number thirty-two Windsor Gardens, where he now lives with their two children, Jonathan and Judy, and their housekeeper, Mrs. Bird.

Subsequent stories by Michael Bond tell of PADDINGTON's life and adventures with the Brown family in his new home in England.
