Classroom News in Mrs. Schwarz's Kindergarten

               Week of 9-29-08

Reminder - Our classroom is now a nut free classroom.  Please do not pack foods with nuts for snacks.

Thank you to all who volunteered their time to be a chaperone for a field trip to the apple orchard.  We are ready to go!  Unless it is pouring rain we will still go.  Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately.  Sneakers or boots are best.  Please, no sandals.

This week we are  working on letters: Ss and Rr.  Please talk about the sound of S and R at home and what begins with each letter.  Practice writing both upper and lowercase Ss and Rr.  You can also review Mm.

Continue to practice holding the pencil properly and writing names and letters from top to bottom.  Also, please practice cutting at home.

Please have your child reread their take home book. They can reread it several times so they learn the words.  They are for you to keep at home and reread.  Always take all papers out of the folder each day and look at all the work and go over all the papers with your child.

Our new high frequency word this week is: my.  Please review (a) from last week.

Homework sheets for letter Ss are due on Fri. Oct. 1.  Please help you child to complete their homework.  The homework needs to be done in pencil unless it says to color the pictures and please see that your child does the work.  Sound spelling is writing the letters for the sounds you hear in the words.

How about reading a Dr. Seuss book this week?  They are great for rhyming words and the children love the stories.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call me or send me a message.  Thank you for your help at home.  I do appreciate it.
