Here is a list of the major topics at second grade.

Science and Technology:
    1. Science experiments have reproducible results.
    2. Learning can come form observation and simple experiments.
    3. Scientists use different tools: thermometers, magnifiers, rulers, balances, etc.
    4. Some scientists work on a team and share information.
    5. Some objects occur in nature and others have been manmade.

Earth and Space:
    1. Weather- The patterns and elements of weather (wind, temperature, moisture)             
                    Living With the Weather performance task.
    2. Earth-    It consists of rocks, soils, liquid water, and gases of the atmosphere.
                    The cycle of day and night.
                    The sun provides light and heat.
                    Planets move in orbits.
                    Patterns of stars are called constellations.
                    The moon has phases.
                    The Earth takes one year to go around the sun.
                    The revolution and tilt of the earth causes the seasons.
                    Stars can be different sizes and brightness.
                    The closest one to us is the sun.

Life Sciences:
    1. Plants and animals have life cycles. Each one is different.
    2. Live painted lady butterflies are raised and observed.

Physical Sciences
    1. Changes kit ?
    2. Understanding the basic concepts of matter.
    3. You can measure an objects properties with different instruments.
    4. You can change matter physically and chemically.
    5. Observing the properties of light and water.
    6. Light can be reflected and refracted.
