You've Been Spotted Character Word of the Month:
Our Valentine's Day party will be held on Monday, February 14th.
Students should be
decorating a small box, container, basket, or bag into a Valentine mailbox.
Please make sure your child's name is clearly written on the front and there is
an easy way for the children to get Valentine cards in and out of the mailbox.
Students should have their Valentines and mailboxes in school by Friday,
February 10th. A list of classmates and teachers has been sent home.
We will be learning about
Ground Hog's Day, President's Day, and dental health!
We will complete a
Language Arts Performance Task focusing on the theme of friendship. We will
discuss the characteristics of a good friend and create a classroom friendship
web. Students will work in cooperative groups and read stories about friendship.
The group will talk about which character was showing the qualities of a good
friend. That character will win the good friend award. The students will
create a group poster and present it to the class.
We will be celebrating Black History Month by reading about Harriet Tubman and George Washington Carver on one of our favorite websites, Brainpop Jr.!
In science we will continue our unit on the solar system! We will talk about the sun, planets, constellations, moon phases, asteroids, astronauts, Milky Way Galaxy, and the International Space Station. Vocabulary: gravity, revolve, rotate, orbit, telescope, lunar, solar, sphere, and galaxy.
