Mathematics
The Harcourt Brace Mathematics program emphasizes concepts and problem solving. It encourages creative thinking to reach solutions. Units include: percents, metrics, geometry, estimation, division with two digit divisors, fractions, and decimals.
Fifth graders must know their basic facts of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. These facts should be practiced with flashcards at home.
The New York State Math Test will be given to 5th grade in March, 2008.
