D.A.R.E.

D.A.R.E. stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education.  Our program in the Shenendehowa Central School District is supported by the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff James D. Bowen, and Deputy Rodney Gwiazdowski.  Chango's program runs from September through January.  The sixteen week program focuses on:

  • Drug use and misuse

  • Consequences of behavior

  • Violence identification and strategies to manage conflict

  • Resisting peer pressure

  • Building self-esteem

  • Assertive training

  • Managing stress without drugs and violence

  • Media images of drugs and alcohol

  • Role models

  • Support systems

Students work independently and in small groups during class instruction.  The program teaches students to make informed decisions and believe in themselves.  We culminate the program with a meaningful and educational graduation.  All students who complete the sixteen week course will be recognized during graduation.
