Students learn that people living in communities celebrate various holidays.  As United States citizens, we recognize Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving, Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday, President's Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day and Independence Day.  The curriculum also addresses the fact that people observe cultural and religious holidays.
