| Fellow PTA members, What if we have no Arts in Education funding for our students next year? No money to be dispersed by the District Office for guest speakers, field trips, or any of the cultural arts programs that we present to our students. It very well may be the situation. This year we functioned with limited Council PTA leadership for the Arts in Education Program. Fortunately we had a budget that was prorated and administered to each of our schools by the District Office. Another year of no PTA leadership will spell the beginning of the end. If no one steps up to the plate before June we will not have a budget that is equitably prorated between our schools. Our Shenendehowa District Finance Director, Sue Martin, has been a friend of the PTA and has worked hard to help us maintain a wonderful relationship between the District and BOCES. She has worked with the PTA to administer the BOCES matching fund program. Sue is retiring and with her absence we will need to demonstrate our capability and desire to continue the Arts in Education funding. We need a chairperson for Arts in Education. Someone willing to work with the new finance director to continue the pattern of growth and success that our unit PTAs have had with their cultural arts programs. I am writing to convey a situation that has now turned quite serious. If you know of anyone that is willing to take on this responsibility, please have them contact me as soon as possible.
