Gowana Team 7-2 made Patriotic Stockings to send overseas to our soldiers in Iraq.  The team also collected supplies to put into the stockings such as batteries, chapstick and cough drops.

Ms. Coulter and students,

I just wanted to say on behalf of the Marines of Task Force National Capital Region stationed here in Iraq, we appreciate the packages you and your students sent us. I cannot even begin to tell you how much it means to those of us stationed here to know that we have the support from individuals such as yourselves. Being so far away these gifts you sent remind us of being back in the states, and how nice it will be to return home when our job is done. Again, thank you very much for thinking about us and good luck with the remainder of your school year.

God Bless,

Cpl. Jonathon Walraven

Acadia  Art Students

Contribute to "National Character Counts Week"

Ms. Plouff's Acadia 7th grade Art classes purchased sketchbooks, decorated and left encouraging messages on the covers for patients and families spending time at The Ronald McDonald House and Family Room at Albany Medical Center.  These students continue to emphasis good character in their classrooms by creating WANTED poster self-portraits showing off their best character traits.

  Koda Gems

The Koda Gems is a student recognition program that was developed as a way to recognize exceptional members of the Koda community who exemplify the Middle School Rights and Expectations and Profile of a Middle School Student. Koda Gems are nominated by team teachers as well as Unified Arts teachers.

See who was nominated as one of "Koda's Gems" this semester...Congratulations!

Gowana Community Connections

As part of the seventh grade Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) curriculum, students participate in a "Community Connections," project.  This is an opportunity for students to give back to the community and it is also part of the FACS New York State curriculum.  Every semester, students complete a different project for the community.
