Dear Families,

Welcome back!! Boy has this year gotten off to a whirlwind start!! We have already had our school pictures, both open houses and interims are coming home soon. Whew, I'm tired already!

School pictures went great. We have already received many compliments on our new photographer!! It has been a MAJOR improvement over years past!! For those of you who missed the first picture day, retakes will be on October 24th. Thank you all for your support of this endeavor. We have already made a larger profit than we have seen in many years! Thank you!!

The open houses ran smoothly this year and were well attended. It truly is the best way to make that vital connection with your child's teachers. Yes, it is a late night; but it is an invaluable source for you and your child. For those of you who saw me dancing....yes, I am very happy that after 16 years, this was my very last open house at Shen!!!! Yippee! Now it's off to Parent's Weekend...and I can go to bed early!

Our first PTSA meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 8th at 7:00 pm in the East library. Please plan on attending. This meeting will be the discussion of the Reading List Survey. Thank you to everyone who took the time to fill one out. Please note: This is a shared discussion forum. Many parents have had questions regarding these lists over the years. This is your opportunity to ask and have answered those questions, face to face, with our administrators and teachers. We greatly appreciate the time they are giving to attend this meeting.

Our first Coffee House will be held on October 24th. The informational flyers can be found in the Main office of both schools and also in the Fridge in East. Please plan on attending this very exciting evening. It rivals anything you'd hear at any of the local music venues and we are showcasing our very best, brightest and talented students! It's worth the trip!!

If you are looking for a way to get involved, we are in need of a Council Delegate & a representative to the District Special Education Committee. Please let me know if you are interested in either of these committees.
