Vote for Mr. Sawyer!

     Karigon teacher Bryan Sawyer, is now one of 5 candidates competing to be named “Top Teacher” on the ABC morning TV show, “LIVE! With Kelly.”  Mr. Sawyer and his team were featured on LIVE! with Kelly on Thursday, May 17th.  If you missed the show, click go to http://dadt.com/live/ to find the video link.  Voting for the top teacher will begin after the show on Friday, May 18th and end on Monday, May 21st at 3:00 p.m.  During that time people are allowed to vote once a day for their favorite teacher.  On Tuesday, May 22nd, the teacher who receives the most votes will be announced on the show.  The winning teacher will win $25,000 for their school!  Go to http://dadt.com/live/ to cast your vote!

CAP COM is sponsoring another contest...

The five schools that sign up the most new school bankers during the month of May will receive a family four pack to the Great Escape!  If Karigon is one of the winners, we will hold a raffle among all our school bankers to determine who gets the tickets.  New account applications are available school banking mornings from our volunteers, or any time in the main office.  Please see the Cap Com flier for more information.

The last day for school banking is Tuesday, May 29th.  Between now and then, every deposit you make at school will earn you a prize!

From the Karigon Main Office

Please have ID ready when you come to sign out your children.  With all the activities for the end of the year, more parents are picking up their children and the monitors do not know everybody.  Please understand that this is for the safety of all the students.  Also, it can get a little busy in the lobby and we ask that you be patient during the signout process.

Just a friendly reminder that the school district has a code of conduct that we follow.  We have extra clothing in the nurse's office should they happen to be in violation of the dress code.  Thank you!  Please refer to the Board of Education's Code of Conduct Regulations 3410A for more information.

Relay for Life

      Relay for Life is a fundraising event for the American Cancer Society.  The Southern Saratoga Relay will be held at Shenendehowa High School on June 8-9, 2012.  For more information please see the attached Parent Letter.

Sun & Moon Cards and Luminaria Bags will be sold to Karigon students during lunch periods until May 18th.  Sun & Moon Cards are $1 each and Luminaria Bags are $5 each.

Ice Cream Party Raffle Tickets will be available for purchase on May 21st - May 29th (in the classrooms).  When a raffle ticket is purchased, it will aslo be entreed into a raffle to win an MP3 player!

Coach Decker's Website

     Coach Decker has developed a PE website which is linked on the Karigon homepage under the Staff Webpages section.  It is designed so that parents can see any announcements related to PE and what their children are performing in class.  He will be using the calendar for important school activities and is working on creating a photo album filled with pictures of different classes and a link section for fun and healthy websites.

     He also included all the information about swimming and the physical fitness testing.  The Intramurals tab will be updated next week and he will have the permission slips available so that parents can print them at home for those students who leave copies at school.
