Human Resources Substitute Positions

Open Positions

-Instructional Substitutes for:  Foreign Language, Speech, Science, Phys Ed & Music

- Non-instructional Substitutes for Transportation, School Monitors, Teacher Aides (Special Education), Food Service, Clerical, Nurses, LPNs

Qualifications for Instructional Substitute

Elementary Level

-Certified Elementary teacher
-Certified in other subject area (Art, Music, Special Education, Physical Education, Library)
-A person who has completed student teacher requirement course work and teacher testing, but is not yet fully certified
-A person who has completed their student teaching at Shenendehowa and who is in their final semester of college
(Requirements are listed in the order of priority for placement on the sub-list.)

Secondary Level

-Certified secondary subject teacher. (If recently graduated, produce original letter from college that certification requirements have been met and your NTE or NYTCE scores.)
-Four-year degree (can sub in area closest to degree title as an uncertified substitute)
-Uncertified substitute teachers may work ONLY 40 days for the District.

Mandatory Requirements for All Substituting - Instructional and Non-Instructional

- Completion of HAZCOM training session
-Proof of immunity to measles if born after January 1,1957
-Applicants will be subject to a fingerprint supported criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001.

Salary/Benefit Information:

Substitute Teacher Contract (pdf)

Certified substitute teachers are paid $97 per day for the first 20 days worked and $108 per day after 20 full days. The half day rate is $63.


Uncertified substitute teachers (first work day prior to 07/01/2009) are paid $95 per day for the first 20 days worked and $105 per day after 20 full days. The half day rate is $61.


Uncertified substitute teachers (first work day after to 07/01/2009) are paid $84 per day for the first 20 days worked and $89 per day after 20 full days. The half day rate is $50.

 

Food Service substitute pay rate is $7.50/hour

 

Clerical, monitor and teacher aide substitute pay rate is $7.50/hour

 

Special Ed Aide Substitute pay rate is $11.00/hour


Bus driver substitute pay rate is $17.87/hour. Once appointed to a permanent position, it increases to $19.68/hour.


Nurse Substitute pay rate is $18.25/hour

 

Security Officer Substitute pay rate is $11.00/hour

 

Building Maintenance Mechanic Substitute pay rate is $13.00/hour
