Look at Latin America!:

Fifth grade social studies stresses geographic, economic and social/cultural understandings related to the United States, Canada and nations in Latin America today. This project allows students to take a closer look at a Latin American country and display knowledge of that country by adding pictures and text to a Powerpoint template. Use of a template simplifies the project so it can be completed in just a few class periods. Start with the graphic organizer to help students focus their research. Each student designs 2 Powerpoint slides. All slides can then be merged together to form a comprehensive Latin America slideshow.

State Research - Precipitation and Temperature Graphs:

During state research projects, fifth graders collect precipitation and temperature data for a designated city in their assigned state. In this activity, students use Microsoft Excel to graph this data. Also works well as a multidisciplinary math activity.
