Sixth grade
Sixth-grade students have general music instruction every day for 10 weeks.  In addition to general music, students may elect to perform in chorus, band or orchestra which rehearse every other day.  All sixth-grade ensembles perform twice a year. Students are also given opportunities to perform in smaller ensembles at events like "Respect Week."

Seventh grade
Seventh-grade students who do not wish to select a performing ensemble may continue general music, which meets every other day throughout  the  year.  The chorus, band and orchestra meet daily.

Eighth grade
In grade 8, the performing ensembles are the only option for music study in the school day.  They continue to meet daily.

Extra-curricular
In addition to the school ensembles, smaller, often select ensembles work with teachers at the middle school before school.  The Ambassadors is a vocal select ensemble of students from grade 6-8.  The boys' chorus, string ensemble and jazz bands also meet at that time.

Meeting the graduation requirement
In the high school, students must have 1 unit of credit in music or art to graduate.
To meet this, they may participate in orchestra, symphonic band or concert choir.
Students may also choose a general music option. This class is called Music In Our Lives.

Special performing groups
Auditioned groups like Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble and Choraliers meet on alternate days and receive .5 unit of credit.

Music sequence
Students may also receive a sequence in music by choosing Theory I and Theory II which include the techniques for musical composition and help students gain familiarity with Midi applications.
