    Plagiarism

Plagiarism Stoppers: A Teacher's Guide: Places to go for help with student plagiarism, how to identify it, what to do when it happens, and how to prevent it.

Plagiarism and the Web: This is a well done page on what plagiarism is and how to avoid it.  There are some excellent links to articles on plagiarism too.

A Faculty Guide to Cyber-Plagiarism: includes information on proper paraphrasing under Handouts for Students.

    Avoiding Plagiarism from OWL

CLN has a web page on Plagiarism.  Two articles from that page that may be of special interest are:

    “An Antidote to Plagiarism”
This site, from a K-12 school in California, is for grades 5-10.  The site guides students with lessons and activities, showing them how to write a research paper without copying.

“Cut-and-Paste Plagiarism: Preventing, Detecting, and Tracking Online Plagiarism”
This is an article (this is a little dated—May, 1998)  for educators on what plagiarism is, how to prevent it, how to recognize it and how to find the source.  Some of the links here are gone or are blocked at Shenendehowa.  And instead of using Infoseek try Google.

Secondary School page from About.com has links on cheating, and the definition of plagiarism.

From Now On (FNO) had an article on The New Plagiarism, from May 98.
