El Niño: The
Child Returns
http://www.cotf.edu/ete/modules/elnino/elnino.html
This site, part of the Exploring the Environment page supported by NASA,
presents information about the weather phenomenon called El Niño. The site
has four sections with links to a glossary, related links, reference
material and problem solving activities. The sections include What El Niño
is?, Modulars on Atmosphere, Biosphere, Hydrosphere and Lithosphere, and
information on remove sensing and information technology. The goal of the
site is to engage high school students in collaborative scientific inquiry
and analysis.
El Niño or El No-no
http://www.powayschools.com/projects/elnino/
This site is a WebQuest created by Keith Nuthall, a Instructional
Technology Specialist at a California K-12 school. This quest has students
researching background information on El Niño, gathering historical and
real-life data and constructing a model of an El Niño cycle, and then
speculating on the effects of the model and presenting the information.
This is a good example of similar task in a WebQuest form.
El
Niño: online meteorology guild
http://ww2010.atmos.uiuc.edu/(Gh)/guides/mtr/eln/home.rxml
This site is part of An Online Guide to Meteorology produced by The
Department of Atmospheric Science at the University of Illinois
Urbana-Champaign. The guide incorporates text, colorful diagrams,
animation, and simulations to introduce El Niño. The information includes
the definition of El Niño, upwelling, non-El Niño years, El Niño events,
sea surface temperatures, impact on weather, economic impact and
prediction.
El Niño: Hot Air over
Hot Water
http://sln.fi.edu/weather/nino/index.html
This site produced by the Franklin Institute, has links to information on
severe weather, atmosphere, weather forecasting, weather maps, and much
more.
Tracking El Niño--NOVA
Online Adventure
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elnino/
This site is part of PBS’s NOVA Online Series. The site map gives a very
clear picture of the information contain at this site. The site includes
Anatomy of El Niño, Chasing El Niño, El Niño’s Reach Across the Globe,
Through Time and to Living Things and Hello La Niña. There are also a
series of Dispatches that follow the day to day effect of El Niño and
Resources that include a glossary, FAQs, books and links to other sites.

The El Niño Theme Page is a comprehensive site from the National Oceanic
and Atmospheric
Administration (NOAA) and the Tropical Atmosphere Ocean Array (TAO)
covering the basics of El Niño, current updates, and related data. Links
