- need - Will the software support the curricular and research
needs of your school and grade levels?
- subject scope - Is the subject of the software within the
scope of the curriculum?
- uniqueness of data - Does the information exist in any other
format?
- authority of data--What is the source of the data? Is it
reliable? Is this the latest version of the software? Is other
software available for this same information need? Are there any
reviews of the software?
- vendor - Is this an established computer software producer or
vendor? Will the vendor provide technical support for the software
(have a toll free telephone hotline, etc.)?
- confidentiality of data - Is use of the data subject to any
restrictions?
- licensing restrictions - Are the licensing arrangements
acceptable? Is home access included? Can teachers make
copies?
- physical format - Will the software run on Shen's system? Does
it require hard disk storage, etc.?
- documentation - Is there complete and accurate documentation
included? Is on-site training provided?
- cost - how much does the software cost? Does the need and
potential use justify the cost?
