Instructional Substitutes for
Elementary Schools
The District is seeking instructional substitutes for elementary
buildings. The following are requirements for a substitute teacher
at the elementary level:
-
Certified Elementary
teacher -
Certified
in
other
subject
area
(Art,
Music,
Special
Education, Physical Education, Library)
-
A
person
who
has
completed
student
teacher
requirement course work and teacher testing, but is not yet fully
certified -
A
person
who
has
completed
their
student
teaching
at
Shenendehowa and who is in their final semester of college
(Requirements
are
listed
in
the
order
of
priority
for
placement
on
the
sub-list.)
The
following
are
mandatory
requirements
before
substituting:
-
Completion
of
HAZCOM training session
-
Proof
of
immunity to measles if born after January 1,1957
-
Applicants will be subject to a fingerprint supported
criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE Legislation
effective July 1, 2001.
Substitute teachers are paid $93
per
day
for
the
first
20
days
worked
and
$103 per day after 20 full days. The half day rate is $60.

Instructional Substitutes for Secondary Schools
The District is seeking
instructional substitutes for secondary buildings. The following
are requirements for a substitute teacher at the secondary level:
-
Certified
secondary
subject
teacher.
(If
recently
graduated,
produce
original
letter
from
college
that
certification
requirements
have
been
met
and
your NTE
or
NYTCE
scores.) -
four-year degree (can
sub in area closest to degree title as an uncertified substitute)
-
Uncertified substitute
teachers may work ONLY 40 days for the District.
(Requirements
are
listed
in
the
order
of
priority
for
placement
on
the
sub-list.)
The
following

HAZCOM
Information
New
York
State
law
requires
all
employees
(including
substitutes)
receive
instruction
annually
regarding
toxic
substances
at
their
work
sites.
If
you
attended
a
HAZCOM
training session
during
the
2007-2008
school
year, this
requirement has been satisfied for
the
2007-2008
school
year
ONLY. To
be
in
compliance
with
this
regulation
for
the
2008-2009
school
year,
IT
WILL
BE
NECESSARY
FOR
YOU
TO
UPDATE
THE
HAZCOM
TRAINING
YOU
HAVE
RECEIVED. If
you
are
a
new
applicant
for
substituting,
you
must
attend
a HAZCOM
training
prior
to
working
in
a
classroom.
At
each
session,
participants
will
be
asked
to
sign
in.
This
will
be
the
District’s
only
verification
that
you
have
attended
this
mandatory
training.
A
$5.00
payment
will
be
made
to
you
after
attending
this HAZCOM
training
session.
