1338 -- By-Laws

The chief school physician shall be appointed annually by the Board of Education. The duties of the chief school physician shall include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Performs professional medical services in the examination and care of school children;
2. Performs examinations of school children, as needed;
3. Serves as an on call member on the Committees on Special Education and 504;
4. Contributes to information provided in reports to the Board on school health services;
5. Coordinates with school nurses in scheduling for physical examinations to all students participating in interscholastic athletics;
6. Develops the program of health service in accordance with policies approved by the Board and as directed by the Superintendent of Schools;
7. Determines response to potentially contagious diseases identified in conjunction with Public Health Nurses;
8. Serves as the Emergency Healthcare Provider concerning the District’s Automated External Defibrillation (AED) Program;
9. Provides consultation on any other medical issue in which the District needs medical assistance.
10. He will attend athletic contests as needed.
