SHENENDEHOWA CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
2350 --
Internal Operations
SUBJECT: BOARD LEGISLATIVE PROGRAM
The Board, as an agent of the State, must operate within the
bounds of state and federal law affecting public education. If the Board is to
meet its responsibilities to the students and residents of the community, it
should work vigorously for the passage of laws designed to advance the cause of
good schools and for the repeal or modification of existing laws that impede
this cause. To this end:
-
The Board shall work for the achievement of common
legislative objectives through the New York State School Boards
Association and with other associations and concerned groups.
-
The Board shall also seek both direct and indirect
representation of its position on pending legislation with appropriate
state and federal legislators and legislative committees.
-
The Superintendent shall encourage District staff
members to be aware of ongoing discussion of changes to or development of
legislation in their areas of expertise. Matters relevant to our District
should be brought to the attention of the Superintendent and Board.
