SHENENDEHOWA CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT 2360 -- Internal Operations SUBJECT: BOARD –STAFF COMMUNICATIONS Individual members of the Board may communicate freely with the Superintendent and may make inquiries of other administrators, who may refer inquiries to the Superintendent. Formal communications with other staff should be arranged through the Superintendent or appropriate principal. The Board of Education acknowledges the importance of maintaining open channels of communication between its members and staff members. The primary line of communication will be through the Superintendent of Schools. He/she shall employ appropriate methods to keep staff fully informed of the Board’s areas of study and actions, and will share all policies with the appropriate staff members. It is expected that Board Member liaisons to our schools will visit and take part in events and activities where appropriate. Arrangements will be made through the school principal. Individual Board Members interested in visiting other schools or departments will inform the Superintendent of such visits and make arrangements through the school principal or department director. Such visits will be regarded as informal expressions of interest in school affairs and not as "inspections" or visits for supervisory or administrative purposes. Official visits by Board Members, (for instance, to tour a construction site or new facility) will be arranged by the Superintendent as part of a Board meeting. Adoption Date: December 12, 2006 |
