SUBJECT: PUBLIC ACCESS TO RECORDS

Access to records of the District shall be consistent with the rules and regulations established by the State Committee on Open Government and shall comply with all the requirements of the New York State Public Officers Law Section 87.

A Records Access Officer shall be designated annually at the Board of Education’s organizational meeting, who shall have the duty of coordinating the School District's response to public request for access to records and making records available pursuant to the Freedom of Information Law.

All requests shall be made during regular business hours.

Copies of any records shall be made available upon payment of $.25 per page for copies no larger than 9 x 14 inches. Fees for copies of a larger size shall be based on the actual cost of reproduction, excluding fixed costs.

The Records Access Officer may review records requested before providing them and may delete any information which, in his/her judgment, would constitute an unwarranted invasion of privacy. Said Officer shall also be authorized to deny access to records which are not available pursuant to the Freedom of Information Law. The reason for denial of a record must be given in writing.
