Easy Postcard Template
This easy postcard template allows students to type a message and mailing address in a format that can be printed, folded and cut to resemble a real postcard. After printing, students can hand-draw a picture for their postcard. |

Landforms Booklet:

In the grade two social studies program, students explore rural, urban, and suburban communities, concentrating on communities in the United States. Students learn that communities vary in different regions and are influenced by geographic and environmental factors. In this activity, students create a booklet describing forest, coastal, mountain, plains, and desert landforms. |

Continents and Oceans - Basic Map Skills:
| By "painting" the land masses and corresponding map key, second graders review their knowledge of the continents and reinforce basic map skills. Students complete the world map by dragging the major oceans to the correct location. |

My Community:
| This activity encourages second graders to describe their own community using Kidspiration software's visual learning tools. Students identify symbols that represent animals, buildings, community helpers and other aspects of their community. |

Clifton Park Virtual Field Trip:
| Travel to special places in our community and compare how things look today with how they looked 200 years ago. See schools, government buildings, churches, bridges, housing and places to stay over night called lodging. Some places have changed and are used differently and still others haven't changed at all. |
