Lead Teacher For Gifted and Talented Education Anna Sugarman x68205
 The Lead Teacher’s primary goal is to train and assist elementary (grades K-5) teachers in providing a challenging instructional program for gifted youngsters. The Lead Teacher is also a resource for students and their parents.

 Responsibilities

The major responsibilities of the Lead Teacher – Gifted and Talented Education are:

  • Provide school based leadership and support for meeting the needs of gifted and talented students that is aligned and/or supports our Essential Content/Competencies in each program area.
  • Develop and deliver large group, small group, one-on-one training and/or in-class model lessons for instructional staff.
  • In-class support for teachers in meeting the unique needs of gifted and talented students. This includes providing support for Kindergarten teachers in their annual screening activities.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of non-traditional methods of meeting the needs of gifted students (e.g. Johns Hopkins Math Tutorials).
  • Assist Program Planning Teams to identify and infuse challenging instructional materials into our Essential Content/Competencies and Performance Tasks.
