Movers and Shakers Goals and Due Dates
Critical Concepts:  By the end of the unit, students will learn to....
  1. Diagram and describe the earth's internal parts.
  2. Discuss the four pieces of evidence for the idea of continental drift including sea-floor spreading.
  3. Compare convergent, divergent and transform plate boundaries.
  4. Explain the types and causes for earthquakes on the three main faults.
  5. Locate the epicenter of an earthquake and describe its magnitude.
  6. Compare and contrast primary, secondary and surface waves
  7. Describe the conditions that cause an earthquakes and volcanoes and the relationship to plate tectonics.
  8. Identify the major forms of a volcano and describe how they erupt.

Test and Quiz

Quiz on March 8 and test during the week of March 15

Be aware of the due dates as they are given.

In-Classs Activities:

Pangaea Put Together: Unravel the puzzle and put the Earth back together.

Here is a fun way to play with the Earth's plates.

It’s Not My Fault:  Use the model earth block to show what is going where underground.

Nor My Fault Lab from Erika Clarkin on Vimeo.

Which Way Did It Go?  Virtually model where and when earthquakes happen.

Convection Connection: An in-class demonstration of convection currents and the causes of sea floor spreading
