COUNSELING CENTER
Posted on January 13, 2011
Students are able to access their school counselor, a
school social worker, an intervention counselor or a school psychologist.
While each has a specialty, all are able to provide appropriate counseling for
some student issues. All will direct students to the proper person if they
are unable to handle the concern.

The Counseling Center processes over 3,000 requests each year. The
counselor recommendation is only one piece of what the counseling center
must send to a college. We must also submit the official transcript and
the school profile. At this time, we are working towards submitting
these documents on line. We just received the software last year and
must make sure we can properly submit electronically before going live,
especially since the process directly affects our student’s college
applications. Since we cannot submit the transcript nor the profile on
line at this time, it is more efficient and less chance of separation of
documents when all the information from our office is sent in one
packet. Also, the Processing Form is our documentation that all
materials that a student requests are submitted and the date is
recorded. Not all colleges subscribe to the Common Application, so,
there will always be schools that we must send information by mail.

Counselors will not be doing the common
application online this year, but will the following year. Teachers
decide on an individual basis.
