Posted on June 18, 2010
“Cumulative achievement record equivalent for elementary and secondary
school including but not limited to information on school entry,
withdrawal and graduation, and on subjects taken and grades received
from examinations.”
According to the Records Retention and Disposition Schedule ED-1, NYS
Education Department.
Posted on February 22, 2010
It has been a Board of Education Policy for at least 15 years.
Posted on May 12, 2011
22.
Posted on December 21, 2010
No. However, it is a major milestone in a young person’s life
and the school would like to recognize the graduate in this formal
setting.
Posted on October 1, 2008
A minimum of 22. Specific diploma
requirements, including required subjects and tests are explained in
the Program of Study. Please talk to a school counselor if you have
further questions.
Posted on May 6, 2008
If a senior student
receives just 5 credits this year (including all the required
classes), and it amounts to exactly 22 credits, can he/she still
graduate without the 5.5 credits required for full time status?

Any question regarding graduation should be
directed to the school counselor who will review the student's
transcript to accurately answer the question.
Posted on April 8, 2008
Is it true that if a
senior fails 2 classes they are not allowed to graduate even if they
have the required number of credits and all required classes
completed?

No, this is not true. If a senior successfully satisfies the required
courses for a diploma, s/he will graduate.

This may be done at the North Main Office of HSE.

You are "renting" the cap and gown from rental company that has all the
different sizes. It is not new this year, it has always been done this
way. The cap and gown are returned to the company after the graduation ceremony.

The gold tassel is for having a cumulative average of 85% or higher
for four years, all graduates get the green and white tassel. Some
graduates are also given cords... NHS is gold, Tri-M (National Music
Honor Honor Society) is pink.

Those medals are recognition of students who
have achieved a cumulative high school grade point average of 95 or
higher.
Posted on April 8, 2008
Orders for cap and gown take place in the
middle of the senior year. Students are allowed to keep their tassel.
Posted on April 8, 2008
Cap and gowns are rentals. They may contact
Marlene at Herf Jones, the company that supplies the caps and gowns,
should they have questions regarding a purchase.
Posted on April 8, 2008
Yes, there is a fee for rental of the cap and gown.
If the class assistant principal is made aware of the
person in need of assistance he can work with the company supplying
the caps and gowns. They have always provided extras in
situations such as this.
Posted on July 15, 2008
Return your cap and gown to the North Office
in HSE. If all obligations to the school have been met, you will
receive your diploma.
Posted on November 4, 2009
Yes, they are recognized during the graduation ceremony.
Posted on December 10, 2009
No.

According to the parent
portal -- to get a "95" on a report card requires a grade a 94.500.
Does this mean if you have a 94.500(+) average, you get to wear a
medal at graduation?

Report card grades and cumulative averages are
not the same. They normally don’t round up or down a cumulative
career average for graduation recognition (gold cords or medals) or
NHS induction.

Typically, the amphitheatre, both upstairs and downstairs is at
capacity, and a good portion of the lawn near the theatre is used as
overflow. The inside seating capacity is about 5200, so that number is
probably pretty close to what we expect.
Posted on May 13, 2009
There is no rehearsal. Administrators will review in English
classes the expectations and instructions for graduation.
Posted on April 8, 2008
There are no reserved seats for parents and
guests for graduation. Seating is
first-come, first-serve basis.
Family's with handicapped relatives may contact the principal's office
for a parking permit.
While seating inside is
limited, there is unlimited seating outside.
Posted on March 18, 2008
There are no tickets needed for graduation.
Posted on June 17, 2008
There is seating for approximately 5,000
inside out of the sun. There is also seating on the lawn (in the sun).
Posted on June 18, 2010
Probably between noon and 12:30pm.
Posted on May 5, 2009
Approximately 2 1/2 hours.
Posted on June 23, 2010
No, nothing is done differently if it rains.
Posted on June 23, 2010
It is disruptive and disrespectful to the speakers and all other
audience members that are attempting to listen and perhaps video record
the ceremony.
Posted on May 20, 2008
Dress for graduation should be appropriate for
the formality of the event. Shorts are not a preferred choice of
dress.
Posted on May 13, 2008
Graduation is an
important event. Please dress nicely and appropriately. Dress pants
are acceptable.
Posted on June 5, 2008
The administration wishes to create an
atmosphere that is conducive to such an important milestone in the
life of the students, as well as their families. Bubbles, beach
balls, toys, air horns and games may be a part of a graduation party,
but they are not allowed at the graduation ceremony as it takes away
from the happy, yet serious and dignified tone of this ceremony.

Posted on June 4, 2008
Yes. The school does have a professional
photographers at graduation taking photos of students receiving their
diploma.
Posted on October 20, 2008
Early graduation is possible but it important
to speak with your school counselor. The number of credits is only one
factor in receiving a diploma.
Posted on September 18, 2009
There is no January ceremony. However, those students are able to walk
across the stage at the graduation in June.
Posted on December 10, 2009
All diplomas are ordered for distribution in June. Talk to you counselor
about it.
